Types of Bikes We Sell

ROAD

There are two basic categories of road bike, endurance road and performance road.

An endurance road bike is a little more upright, a bit more comfortable, and designed to be smooth and stable for longer rides, or
those who appreciate a bit more comfort focused ride. This is often perfect for recreational riders, new riders, and riders who aren't as flexible.

A performance road bike is a bit more bent over, slightly quicker steering, and is built with a focus on speed and handling, while comfort is still important, it is a secondary concern. These bikes are stiff, light, and designed to go fast and win races, even if that race is just a friendly sprint to a sign outside of town with your friends. Buy one of these if you're racing, like sharp handling, or just like to beat your friends to the next stop sign.

HYBRID

Hybrid is the umbrella term for a bike that is between a mountain and a road bike. In recent years this category has grown by leaps and bounds as manufacturers keep filling nitches between styles.

Performance hybrid/fitness bike/flat bar road bike/etc, there's a ton of different terms for a bicycle with flat handle bars, slightly wider than road bike tires and a slightly more upright position than a traditional road bike. These bikes hit a really great sweet spot for a lot of people, they're quick, efficient, and fully capable of a long ride, but they have a more comfortable position, familiar flat bars, and work great for family trips around the block.

Comfort hybrids are the more "traditional" hybrid with very upright positioning, high handle bars, big step through frame options, and a focus on smooth easy pedaling.

MOUNTAIN BIKES

Mountain bikes come in dozens of styles, and now two wheel sizes. For our local area we really like the 29er hardtail format, but still have some 26inch options as well. The demand for dual suspension is small, and good quality bikes can be somewhat more expensive than their hardtail counterparts. We have a wide range of options, both in price and in performance.

TRIATHLON/TIME TRIAL

Jamis_T2_Tri_Bike_Sized

Tri/TT bikes are highly specific bikes designed to cut through the air as efficiently as possible. They feature areodynamic frames (and often wheels), bullhorns and aero extension type handle bars, and saddles specific to the unique position of such bikes. The fit on these bikes is perhaps more crucial than on other styles, which is why we perform a detailed fit with every bike sold.
