About Us

Kyle's Bikes is truly a lifelong dream come true for Kyle Robinson and his wife RaeAnn. For over 30 years Kyle Robinson has been a staple in the central Iowa cycling community. He enjoys wrenching, racing, commuting and riding bikes. He also supports advocacy groups who work to improve cycling in the area. The store has a home-like atmosphere where everyone is committed to making your cycling experience a great one. Kyle's has a complete service center, that handles repairs of all kinds; bike builds, tune ups, wheel truing, part installations, and great advice and technical know how. Kyle has undergone extensive training to become a Certified Body Geometry Fit Technician, which adds a scientific approach to his years of experience to find a position for everyone that maximizes power and comfort.

After two seasons supporting and supplying the local tri community, Kyle's decided to branch out and supply the world. He sponsored several top amateur triathletes, some of whom became professionals, researched all manner of gear and accessories, and proudly launched
Discount Tri Supply. Many of these triathletes work part time at Discount Tri Supply, shipping products, listing new items, testing new apparel, winning races, you know; whatever needs to be done.

In 2011, Kyle branched out again and began carrying running shoes and providing Ankeny (and the great Des Moines metro) with the first in the region video gate analysis. Using Dartfish software and a treadmill, Kyle's staff is able to accurately view someone's gait and more precisely recommend shoes that suit the individuals needs. This cannot be done as well without the aid of the software which allows for slow motion video and side by side analysis of before and after. Along with multiple brands of shoes, Kyle's is also stocking plenty of running clothing, and accessories.

While triathlons are a big deal at Kyle's Bikes, the staff is knowledgable and passionate about all kinds of cycling (and running). Some employees commute year round and have great advice on winter riding, some race mountain bikes, some just ride for fun and fitness, some are passionate about the mechanical side of things and have vast amount of knowledge on equipment choices no matter what style of bike.
